At the age of 19, she released her debut single Here. The track was highly praised by critics as well as listeners. It reached number 19 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the track one of the top Songs of the year. In the same year, she released her first album Know It All, the track Scars to Your Beautiful ranked on the Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200. The track was also among the first five songs. Based on an interview she did together with Rap Up, the song had a lot in the minds of many people who listened to her personal story of finding acceptance and appreciation for yourself. Cara incorporates messages about compassion and self-love into her music. The music of Cara is directly from her struggles with insomnia, mental illness and other health issues. According to Reuters interview, she's said that her album was half turbulent however, it is half finished. She claims she has grown by therapy and is adamant about encouraging others to seek help when they need it. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since the year 1996. Her parents are of Italian heritage. Her first guitar was purchased by her parents when she turned 10 which ignited her passion for music. A few years later, at 13 she began performing her favourite songs through YouTube an important media platform to show the world that she was talented and courage to become an artist. Actually she covered one of her tracks Sweater Weather was the song that got her noticed by EP Entertainment. They allowed her to compose as well as record herself tracks.
